Youth Services
Calne Town Council is keen to work in partnership with organisations to ensure that young people in the town are provided with opportunities and facilities to develop and grow into responsible and engaging adults.
In this section you can find out more about the facilities and opportunities that Calne Town Council contribute towards.
The Youth Drop In Centre
In 2001 the Town Council financed the opening of the Cool Kids Zone, a drop-in centre in Wood Street for young people aged 11 to 17 years old. The Town Council continues to provide financial support to this facility.
The centre provides a safe environment for young people to hang out. Computer games, board games, internet access, television and mini-snooker are provided to entertain them.
The centre has proved extremely successful and is managed by the Calne Youth Trust.
The centre is staffed by volunteers. Calne Youth Trust is continually seeking suitable adult volunteers to help staff the centre. If you are able to spare a few hours each month to help to keep this important youth facility running. Please contact Councillor Mrs M Baggs on 01249 812128 for further information or to volunteer your services. All adult volunteers are subject to full CRB clearance.
Skateparks
Calne Town Council is committed to providing facilities for skateboarders, inline skaters and other wheeled sport fans.

Calne BMX & Skatepark - "The Bowl"
The BMX & Skatepark, which is known locally as "The Bowl", is located off Station Road, near to Castle Park. Built in the 1990's, The Bowl provides a smooth concrete bowl which can be used by skaters, skateboarders and BMX users to practice jumps and tricks.
A major upgrade of this site is being progressed. In 2007 the bowl was completely refurbished, giving it a new smooth concrete surface. Acoustic fencing was also installed and plans are underway for additional equipment on the site.
Summer Fun In Calne Playscheme
The Town Council is committed by financial contribution to the Calne Summer Fun playscheme which provides activities for youngsters during the school summer break and is considered to be a valuable asset to the town.
The playscheme provides a range of art, craft, games, sports and specialist activities for children aged 5 to 13 years.
The playscheme also provides support for disabled children and those with additional needs to access the playscheme alongside family and friends. You can phone 813367 for more details.
The playscheme is registered with Ofsted Childcare and inspected regularly. In 2004 they received the highest rating of 'Good' from Ofsted.
The scheme is very popular and places are limited.
Registration/enrolment forms are circulated through Calne schools during the last week of June and places can be booked from the beginning of July. Forms are also available from Calne Library and the Information Centre.
The committee reserves the right to refuse admission to any families living outside Calne.
