Play Areas & Open Spaces

Calne Town Council own and manage a wider range of parks, gardens, open spaces, woodland and play areas for the benefit of the community.

In this section you can find out more about those spaces, so you and your family can enjoy them.

 Parks & Play Areas

There are 6 parks and play areas in Calne that are owned and/or maintained by Calne Town Council.

The areas are checked on a daily basis by our staff to identify any problems that may arise. There is also an annual inspection made by ROSPA and all the play equipment complies with Health & Safety Regulations.

All the play areas are fenced creating a safe and secure environment for children to play in.

The play areas are all listed below;

The Recreation Ground

Location: Anchor Road
Equipment: Open Space to enjoy ball games etc., Basketball Hoop. Children play equipment including climbing frame and slide. A Toddler area with cradle swings, see-saw and spring toys.

Wessington Park

 

Location: Wessington Avenue

Equipment: Large Open Space for ball games and swings.

 

Duncan Street

 

 Location: Off Rochdale Avenue

Equipment: A grass area to enjoy ball games and also play equipment to suit small children.

 

 North End Play Area

 

Location: Bremhill View

Equipment: Slide, Swings, Tyre Swing and Climbing Frame.

 

Stokes Croft

This play area has been especially designed to meet the needs of children of all abilities. Some of the equipment in this play area is accessible to children who use a wheelchair.

Location: Bryans Close Road then turn off into Bishop Road then into Stokes Croft.

Equipment: Climbing frame with slide, swings, larger climbing frame, roundabout, table benches.

 

Coleman's Farm Play Area

Location: Follow footpath alongside river from Somerfield towards Colemans Farm. Play Area is on left hand side. Alternatively via Ogilvie Square.
Equipment: Under 5's - climbing frame with slide, swings, bouncy toys. 5+ years - swings, large climbing frame with slide.

This play area is owned by Wiltshire Council and maintained by Calne Town Council.
